Setting up, connecting Stripe, roles, prices, and what your members see. For members: a role that didn’t arrive, cancelling, pausing and refunds.
For sellers
- How do I set up flatpass?Add the bot, connect Stripe, pick a role, set a price. Stripe's own identity check is the long part, at about ten minutes.
- Does flatpass give members the role automatically?Yes: the role goes on within seconds of payment and comes off when the subscription ends. You pick the role; the bot does the rest.
- What happens when a member stops paying?The role stays until the subscription ends: through the paid period after a cancellation, and while Stripe retries a failed card. A full refund removes it at once.
- How do I connect my Stripe account?Press Connect Stripe on your dashboard and finish Stripe's onboarding, about ten minutes; no API key is pasted and you can revoke it from Stripe.
- How do I let members subscribe from inside Discord?Run
/flatpass panelin the channel you want it in and pin the plans panel it posts; members subscribe from its buttons. - How do I post new subscribers to a Discord channel?Connect a channel under Post to Discord on your dashboard. A private team channel gets each new subscriber with their price; a public welcome channel greets each new member.
- Why can't new members see my premium channel?If your server uses Discord's Onboarding, new members only see its default channels. Add the channel your plans panel is in under Server Settings → Onboarding → Default Channels.
- How do I sell my tiers from my own website?Link a button to your invite page, or to a plan's own link, which opens checkout for that plan. Buyers sign in with Discord and are added to your server when they pay.
- Why isn't the bot assigning the role?Discord creates the bot's own role at the bottom of the list, and a bot can only assign roles below it. Drag flatpass above the role you sell.
- How do I delete or hide a tier?Archive it. The tier comes off your invite page at once, you choose whether current members keep their access or end at their period's end, and Restore puts it back. There's no hard delete.
- How do I change a tier's price?Edit the tier and save the new amount. Members already subscribed keep the price they signed up at; only new checkouts pay the new one.
- How much of a member's payment do I keep?All of it but Stripe's card fee, which Stripe charges to your own account at your country's standard rate. flatpass takes nothing from a sale — no percentage, no per-payment fee.
- How do I get paid in a different currency?Make it your default settlement currency in your Stripe Dashboard and add a bank account in it. Change it before your first tier: tiers keep the currency they were priced in.
- Can I offer a free tier?Yes, one per server, and free members never count toward the paid-member cap. Whether a tier is free is fixed when you create it.
- How do I let members upgrade or switch tiers?Tick the switchable box on the tiers that form your ladder, and members move between them instead of paying for two. Changing billing period works on every paid tier, and flatpass swaps the role.
- Can I sell a cohort or a season for one payment?Yes, with a One payment, fixed dates offer: buyers pay once and keep the role until an end date you set, the same for everyone, and flatpass removes it then. On every plan, Free included, with no fee per sale.
- How do promo codes and free trials work?Both are set on your dashboard; members type a code on your invite page before checkout. A code replaces the trial rather than stacking with it, and a 100%-off-forever code is a comp with no Stripe subscription at all.
- How do I set up a referral program for my members?Turn on Referrals on your dashboard with a commission percentage. Members run
/referfor their own link and earn on the subscribers they bring, and you pay them by PayPal, crypto or another method you choose. - How do I refund a member, and what happens to their role?The last payment, from the ⋯ on their dashboard row while ending their access; any other refund in your own Stripe dashboard. A full refund ends the membership; a partial one changes nothing.
- How do I remove a paying member?End their subscription from the ⋯ on their dashboard row. Removing the role in Discord doesn't stop the billing, and flatpass puts it back while they're still paying.
- How do I see who is paying?Your dashboard lists every member with their tier, status and renewal date, above tiles for revenue and active subscribers and a breakdown of where your invite-page traffic came from.
- How do I give someone else access to my dashboard?Invite them from the Team card with a link that works once. An admin can run your tiers, promo codes, invite page and referral rates; Stripe, payouts, ending paid memberships and the team stay with the owner.
- What happens when I pass 15 paying members?Nothing for 7 days — signups keep working and the dashboard counts down. Only then do new checkouts pause; existing members are never touched.
- What permissions does the bot need?Manage Roles and Create Invite. Never Administrator, and it cannot read your members' messages.
For members
- I paid but didn't get my role — what now?Run
/membershipin the server: it re-applies the role on the spot. If it can't, the server's owner has one setting to change and has already been told. - How do I change the card on file?Run
/membership, press Manage billing, and update the payment method in Stripe's portal. A failed renewal keeps your role while Stripe retries. - How do I cancel my membership?Press Cancel under your plan on the server's invite page, or run
/membershipin the server and press Cancel. The role stays until the period you've paid for ends. - Can I pause my membership instead of cancelling?Yes, from the server's invite page: billing stops and the role comes off until you resume, and you keep the plan and price you had. Not during a free trial.
- Can I switch to a different plan?Yes. Change the billing period of any paid plan, or move between the plans the server's owner has made switchable. Moving up is charged the prorated difference now; moving down waits for the end of your paid period.
- How do I get a refund?Ask the server owner — they were paid directly and flatpass never holds the money. Cancelling is not a refund: it stops the next payment and returns nothing.
- I left the server — am I still being charged?Yes. Leaving a Discord server cancels nothing. Cancel the subscription itself, and use the invite page's Open button to get back in with your role.
